Presenting “Separate in Style, Joined in Justice: The Duality of the Black Man in the 60s & 70s” 🕺🏾🪩✊🏾🖤

My collection focuses on the Soul Train era and the Black Panther Party. Even though both groups portrayed themselves differently, they shared the common goal of heightening the black experience. One through music & dance, the other through community & service .

This was my first time participating in the  Fashion Association at LSU's Fashion Show. 

I spent the past three months crocheting the cape pictured. It features imagery used in black panther messaging. The cape is lined with American flags & the Pledge of Allegiance. I chose this to empasize that "liberty and justice" cannot be for all if discrimination persists.
